About The Position

The Roving General Manager is a senior operational leader responsible for deploying to business units experiencing staffing shortages, performance challenges, or newly acquired locations. This role provides interim leadership, stabilizes operations, implements company standards, and ensures a successful transition to permanent management.

  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-pressure situations with limited structure.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience (waste, logistics, transportation, or similar industry preferred).
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively on short notice.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy to multiple locations as needed to provide temporary General Manager leadership and oversight.
  • Execute the company’s strategic operating plan, ensuring alignment with safety, customer experience, efficiency, and profitability objectives.
  • Assess business unit performance quickly and implement corrective action plans to stabilize operations.
  • Lead and support local teams to ensure compliance with all environmental, safety, operational, regulatory, accounting, and ethical standards.
  • Partner with sales teams to maintain and grow commercial, industrial, and municipal accounts during transition periods.
  • Oversee and enforce safety programs to ensure a safe and productive work environment.
  • Drive process improvements and standardization across sites.
  • Identify leadership gaps and assist in recruiting, onboarding, and training permanent staff.
  • Build relationships with local stakeholders, including customers, municipalities, and community groups.
  • Provide detailed transition reports and ensure smooth handoffs to incoming leadership.
  • Travel extensively (up to 75–90%) to support business needs.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
