About The Position

The Route Sales Specialist is responsible for following procedures and good business practices to grow routes to their potential. This role involves delivering fresh product to existing customers, setting up new accounts, and merchandising. The RSS will work closely with customers, support sales initiatives to achieve expectations, and be responsible for customer development, including ordering, merchandising, and display opportunities.

Requirements

  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain and retain a DOT medical card.
  • Successfully able to obtain Chauffer License (If job location is in IN, MI, TN).
  • Ability to climb, push/pull, bend, stoop, and kneel for extended periods as well as perform frequent reaching and use of fingers.
  • Consistent with United States Department of Transportation regulations, the ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-3 years of related experience in DSD (Direct Sales Distribution) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide vacation relief for Route Sales Professionals and Loaders.
  • Assist the Sales Leadership Team in day-to-day operations and/or issues as needed.
  • Assist with the training of new Route Sales Professionals.
  • Deliver fresh product to existing customers on open routes until new RSPs are trained.
  • Assist with rack resets.
  • Partner with Route Sales Professionals to create alignment in account chains.
  • Manage route operation activity, including ordering and distribution, merchandising, promotional activity, holiday planning, and meeting customer expectations.
  • Communicate with customers to assist them in understanding promotional activity and delivery expectations.
  • Ensure product distribution is accomplished to customer satisfaction in agreement with contract terms and requirements.
  • Assist customer relations, including selling new products and space/position gains.
  • Provide a high level of customer service and solve customer issues as they arise.
  • Work location will vary depending on staffing needs.
