About The Position

The route sales driver shall be responsible for, but not limited to, driving a truck over an established route to deliver and sell products or render services of the dairy industry to customer’s place of business. The driver must follow all Department of Transportation regulations. This role involves collecting money from customers, making change, and recording transactions. The driver will also write customer orders, record sales or delivery information, solicit new business from prospective customers, prepare order forms and sales contracts, inform regular customers of new products or services, and resolve service complaints. The position requires physical activity such as climbing, crawling, and walking to load/unload product, stock shelves, set up displays, issue promotional materials, and collect returns. The driver will also be required to stack and unstack items weighing up to 50 pounds and drag stacks of milk weighing approximately 240 pounds. The role involves working in extreme temperatures (over 100°F and below 32°F) and primarily outdoors in various weather conditions. The successful candidate must maintain the cleanliness of the truck, perform routine maintenance, and operate the vehicle safely and efficiently. The employee understands that being banned from a customer account may lead to immediate discharge and that duties may extend beyond those listed.

Requirements

  • Must have a Class A commercial driver’s license
  • Minimum Age: 21, as per Federal D.O.T. regulations
  • Must be able to pass a D.O.T. Physical and Drug Screen
  • Ability to stack and unstack items weighing 50 pounds from a height of approximately seven feet to the ground and back continually
  • Ability to drag stacks of milk weighing approximately 240 pounds
  • Ability to work in very hot (100°+) and very cool (less than 32°) environments
  • Ability to work outside most of the time, regardless of the conditions

Responsibilities

  • Place stock on shelves or racks.
  • Set up merchandise and sales promotion displays.
  • Issue sales promotion materials to customers.
  • Collect or pick up empty containers or rejected or unsold merchandise.
  • Stack and unstack items weighing 50 pounds from a height of approximately seven feet to the ground and back continually.
  • Drag stacks of milk weighing approximately 240 pounds throughout the shift.
  • Load and unload truck and carry merchandise.
  • Keep the inside of the truck clean.
  • Perform routine maintenance on truck.
  • Work and drive in a safe, courteous and efficient manner.
