About The Position

This position requires the safe and timely delivery of assigned loads to final destinations. The individuals who perform this job are experienced drivers that can function as part of a team as well as effectively function independently. Specs insists that you be a human being (my dogs are cute, but they cannot do the job). State law says you must be over the age of 21 to work at Specs. We provide a fun and positive environment in for our staff. Must be able to drive in all types of weather. The noise level is usually moderate to loud.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license
  • Must be over the age of 21
  • High school diploma or a general education degree (GED)
  • Ability to read, comprehend and write simple instructions or memos.
  • Ability to talk and communicate with coworkers and guests.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in both whole numbers and in fractions and decimals without the aid of calculator or abacus.
  • Responsible, reliable, and committed to providing excellent service.
  • Patience, friendliness, and an outgoing personality.
  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic who completes job assignments in a timely fashion and then looks for the next task.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Valid Class C Drivers License
  • Standing, walking, or bending; use of hands and fingers to handle or feel; reaching with hands and arms; climbing or balance; talking and hearing.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with proper tools.
  • Use a industrial machine to move pallets up to 2400 pounds.
  • Close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to operate delivery vehicle in a variety of weather and traffic conditions
  • Be able to work in non-climate-controlled warehouse

  • Previous experience as a route driver or in a similar driving role is preferred
  • Familiarity with manual transmission vehicles and ability to operate them confidently
  • Ability to safely lift and carry heavy items, as some deliveries may require heavy lifting
  • Experience operating a forklift or other warehouse equipment is a plus
  • Commercial driving experience is highly desirable, including knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance
  • Experience in moving or courier services is beneficial

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual is a plus but not required.
  • A Texas driver's license must be obtained in order to maintain eligibility to drive on behalf of Spec's per the insurance company. Texas requires all new resident drivers to obtain a Texas license within 90 days of residing in the state.
  • CDL is not necessary
  • Should have a Flexible schedule

Responsibilities

  • Know and actively demonstrate, daily, our Company Mission Statement and our Core Values.
  • Maintain uniform standard, as detailed in the Employee Manual, for all worked hours.
  • Maintain a clear driving record.
  • Maintain safe driving practices and speeds.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly vehicle.
  • Move supplies and equipment when needed to ensure efficient storage space in delivery vehicle.
  • Receive and verify contents of all shipments to be delivered.
  • Make notes on invoices showing variances and products damaged during store deliveries.
  • Return products damaged during deliveries, including TABC tax stamps.
  • Maintain driver route sheet after every stop.
  • Ensure compliance with standardized filing system for store-to-store transfer paperwork and pick-ups.
  • May be required to assist in unloading based on location needs.
  • Receive payment for deliveries and verify amounts accurately.
  • Inform manager of inventory issues or discrepancies with invoices encountered on route.
  • Provide feedback to management regarding issues with delivery vans and box trucks.
  • Carry out directives of management efficiently.
  • Fulfill responsibilities with care and attention to detail.
  • Practice teamwork and cooperation with others.
  • Create and maintain strong professional relationships with our customers.
  • Provide superb customer service.
  • Possess time management skills and be able to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to manage stress in a fast-paced environment.

  • Safely and efficiently operate a box truck or tractor-trailer to deliver goods to designated locations
  • Load and unload cargo, ensuring proper handling and securing of items
  • Follow assigned routes and schedules to ensure timely delivery of goods
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including proof of delivery documents
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition
  • Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while operating the vehicle
  • Communicate with dispatch or supervisor regarding any issues or delays during the delivery process
  • Provide excellent customer service by interacting professionally with customers at delivery locations

Benefits

  • Full Time is typically 40 hours per week.
  • Part Time is up to 25 hours per week
