About The Position

The Route Driver represents Spee Dee Delivery while making deliveries and picking up freight. The role delivers and collects freight from customers and shippers, handles packages and shipping paperwork, and maintains the company vehicle and a professional appearance. The position is part-time, based in St. Cloud, Minnesota, and offers one of two schedules: Monday through Wednesday with a 7:30 a.m. start, or Thursday through Saturday with a 7:30 a.m. start; Saturday shifts are 5–6 hours. Starting pay is $21.00–$26.25 per hour, based on experience and other relevant factors. The driver must be able to operate a manual transmission or be willing to learn, work independently, and provide good customer service. The position involves physical freight handling, including lifting up to 75 pounds, and requires passing a DOT physical, pre-employment drug screening, and criminal background check.

Requirements

At least 21 years of age.
Ability to operate a manual transmission or willingness to learn.
Good customer service skills and ability to work independently.
Valid driver's license and a good driving record that meets company standards.
Ability to pass a DOT physical exam.
Ability to bend, lift, twist, and climb stairs while moving freight on and off the company vehicle.
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
Ability to work with freight that may include hazardous materials, perishable food, alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check.

Responsibilities

Deliver and pick up freight from customers and shippers in a timely manner.
Inspect the vehicle and report mechanical problems.
Load the truck in an organized manner to use space effectively and prevent package damage.
Collect payments for certain delivered packages.
Verify pickup contents against shipping papers.
Notify management of problems or discrepancies.
Maintain a professional personal appearance and keep the vehicle clean.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
