About The Position

The Rough Carpenter is responsible for building, installing, and maintaining structural wood and metal forms used for concrete placement, as well as performing framing and concrete finishing tasks. This role supports commercial, industrial, and civil construction projects by ensuring all formwork and concrete work meets project specifications, safety standards, and quality expectations.

Requirements

  • 2–5+ years in rough carpentry or form carpentry.
  • Ability to form, pour, and finish concrete with minimal supervision.
  • Strong understanding of construction math, layout, and measurement.
  • Ability to lift 50–100 lbs and work in outdoor conditions.
  • Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and concrete finishing tools.
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints, specifications, and verbal instructions.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with commercial or civil form systems (Peri, Symons, EFCO, etc.).
  • Ability to operate skid steers, telehandlers, or material lifts.
  • OSHA-10 or OSHA-30 certification.
  • Experience leading small crews or mentoring apprentices.

Responsibilities

  • Build, set, align, and brace wood or metal forms for foundations, walls, slabs, columns, beams, and other structural elements.
  • Perform rough framing for temporary structures, decks, platforms, and project components tied to concrete operations.
  • Assist with pouring, vibrating, screeding, and leveling concrete to ensure proper consolidation and finish.
  • Apply trowel, broom, and specialty finishes; patch, repair, and cure concrete surfaces.
  • Read and interpret plans, drawings, and specifications to build accurate formwork and framing.
  • Measure, cut, and assemble materials; prepare subgrade and layout lines for formwork.
  • Safely operate saws, drills, levels, lasers, concrete tools, and other carpentry/concrete equipment.
  • Follow OSHA and company safety standards; maintain clean and organized work areas.
  • Work closely with foremen, laborers, finishers, and other trades to meet project timelines.
