VIAVI Engineers work with teammates to solve problems and build innovative software and hardware solutions that help our customers design, deploy and optimize all types of networks which enable their customers cell phone data and voice services for 5G, 4G and all types of wireless networks, enable cable systems and services, enable high speed data centers to operate, enable aircraft to fly safely, and enable your local government, police, fire departments, and military to operate radio communication. In addition, VIAVI Engineers build modern software systems to assure that all forms of information communication provide high level service to customers.

Ability to continuously learn relevant new technologies, tools, methods and processes.
Undergrad or Graduate Degree from an accredited university in Computer Science, Data Science, AI/ML, or Computer Engineering with a software/AI focus.
Strong Python programming skills, including experience writing clean, maintainable, well-tested code in AI/ML projects.
Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs) and related APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Hugging Face), plus frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, or similar orchestration libraries.
Hands-on exposure to GenAI through projects, hackathons, internships, or research.
Understanding of how AI agents can be orchestrated, guided and controlled.
Ability to apply ethical reasoning and safe practices when designing, prototyping, or testing AI solutions.
Ability to work effectively in agile, collaborative team environments with strong communication skills.
Capacity to learn new technologies quickly and pivot across diverse AI and data science problem spaces.
Ability/Desire to work on a temporary assignment in another country/location.

Nice To Haves

Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, SQL, and RDBMS are strongly desirable.
Java, JavaScript, TypeScript would be advantageous.
