About The Position

Under the direction of the Plant Superintendent, the Shift Supervisor is primarily responsible for the operation, supervision, and performance of the Quincy Specialty Oils Refinery on their assigned team. This position will be required to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays that fall within the rotation.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • High School Diploma or a GED equivalent is required
  • Must have a Valid Driver’s License
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a Team Lead or Supervisor role in industrial operations is required.
  • Strong Organization and Communication Skills and the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization is required.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, Guardian (Incident Tracking Database) is required
  • The ability to perform physical job duties including bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • This role requires the ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions which may include heat, cold, dust, loud noise, etc. and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including a respirator when required
  • Must be able to perform work at heights, work on platforms and in elevated areas
  • The ability to understand and communicate in English (verbal/written) is required

  • Responsible for supervising all production, loadout, and acidulation staff during shift.

  • Follow all loadout and lab procedures to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Provide solutions, build partnerships, and promote collaboration across various teams including production, maintenance and quality to ensure efficient completion of tasks to optimize operations, working hours and avoid unscheduled downtime and breakdowns.
  • Work with the maintenance team to ensure all safe work permits are filled out accurately, fully, and timely and have first line of involvement with lock out/tag out procedures and confined space entries.
  • Monitor, review, suggest, and direct initiatives for continuous improvement in all areas of operations.
  • Daily completion of existing standard work documents, review/revise SOPs.
  • Actively participate in a Performance Excellence pillar and promote shift team involvement in Performance Excellence.
  • Review employee performance and assist in employee development.
  • Actively engage in daily review and response meetings with peer supervisors and leadership team and engage in weekly review and response meetings with Refinery Superintendent.
  • Monitor equipment throughout facility by conducting regular area inspections and walk throughs.
  • Report concerns to maintenance staff, via established work order system.
  • Lead the work of all production employees.
  • Communicate with formulator to coordinate, optimize and execute production schedule to meet customer orders.
  • Assist with scheduling and daily production records as needed.
  • Administer supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring and training employees, performance appraisals, counseling, disciplinary actions, addressing/resolving conflict and work-related issues.
  • Develop a strong partnership and positive relationship with plant management, planning, transportation, quality and inventory control.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
