About The Position

Air Liquide is hiring a Rotating Equipment Expert to support plant operations and provide technical expertise in rotating machinery, including centrifugal compressors, cryogenic expanders, pumps, and reciprocating compressors. The role sits within the Center for Technical Expertise (CTE), with primary responsibilities in Large Industries in the United States and Canada, and additional support for Mexico, Trinidad, Electronics, and Airgas business lines. The position supports process and operational troubleshooting and may be consulted by plant managers and maintenance personnel 24/7. Up to 50% domestic travel is required. The role supports safety, reliability, and efficiency across rotating equipment operations. Responsibilities include regulatory and policy compliance, incident investigation, risk assessment, audits, project and design support, equipment repair quality oversight, operational troubleshooting, technical guidance, training, knowledge sharing, and business development support. The expert also contributes to equipment standards and specifications, Group programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and more than 5 years of rotating machinery experience, or an extensive millwright or machinist technical background with more than 10 years of experience maintaining large rotating machinery.
Valid U.S. employment authorization; the position does not offer non-immigrant visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Detailed knowledge of compressor, turbine, pump, and fan designs and maintenance.
Detailed knowledge of oxygen compression equipment and oxygen cleanliness procedures and documentation requirements.
Solution-oriented approach with excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Lubrication knowledge and expertise.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to perform under stress and time constraints.
Comfort working in both corporate and plant environments.
Ability to work effectively in a diverse, international organization.
Availability to be consulted 24/7 by plant managers and maintenance personnel.
Ability to wear flame-resistant clothing (FRC) and other personal protective equipment (PPE).
Advanced skills with Google Workspace tools, including Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Gmail.
Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
Ability to understand, perform, and retain job-related operational and safety training.
Ability to travel domestically up to 50%.

Responsibilities

Interpret regulatory requirements, industry codes, Group Industrial Policy, and IMS documents to implement and maintain compliant operations.
Support preparation of CTE Guidance Documents for selected Group documents (GTs and GEs).
Review selected root cause analysis reports for process safety and reliability incidents; lead or participate in selected incident investigations.
Drive continuous improvement in rotating equipment reliability and efficiency through leadership and guidance.
Support development of risk assessments for new and existing assets and implementation of resulting action plans.
Participate as a technical auditor in selected entity and Group-level LI IMS audits in the Americas Hub as they relate to rotating machinery.
Participate in Air Liquide Group working groups developing rotating machinery technology documents (GTs).
Support organization and execution of new capital projects; act as owner's representative in design reviews as required.
Provide engineering support and guidance for plant projects and serve as design authority as required.
Review and provide risk assessments for proposed changes to existing rotating machinery through the Management of Change process.
Develop standard equipment specifications and engineering practices for rotating machinery in cooperation with E&C.
Ensure subsidiary compliance with Air Liquide Group directives related to rotating machinery.
Provide rotating machinery operations support to all entities.
Collaborate with large rotating machinery vendors and OEMs, oversee repair quality, and witness equipment assembly and testing as required.
Respond to urgent rotating machinery issues.
Apply process understanding and control systems strategies, in collaboration with the CTE Process Control Technology department, to improve reliability and efficiency.
Recommend process and cost-saving improvements and support their design and implementation as required.
Issue advisories to share best practices and prevent recurrence of incidents.
Work with entity engineering disciplines to identify and deploy current technology.
Review plant-level operating procedures for scope, technical accuracy, and best practices when requested.
Interpret Group rotating machinery initiatives for entities and participate in development of implementation programs.
Support Group rotating machinery technology programs by developing implementation plans with entities and monitoring compliance.
Participate in the Americas Rotating Machinery Technology KNOE and, if assigned, the worldwide Community of Practice.
Build a documented knowledge base of rotating machinery operational expertise.
Provide technical content and training on rotating machinery technology.
Mentor and support developing employees, promote knowledge sharing, and coach assigned or other proteges.
Attend and contribute to selected project development meetings.
Provide technical support to CI during development and execution of new rotating machinery capital projects.
Participate in pre-turnaround planning, turnaround supervision and execution, follow-up reporting, and, where applicable, external shop monitoring of components to recommend repairs and monitor quality control.
