About The Position

The Rotating Equipment Engineer Supervisor leads site rotating equipment reliability and condition-monitoring programs to improve equipment availability, increase mean time between failures, support safe and environmentally compliant operations, and build the technical capabilities of the reliability team. The role performs rotating equipment engineering responsibilities and directly supervises one Condition Based Monitoring Specialist and one Rotating Equipment Specialist. It provides technical leadership for equipment strategy, troubleshooting, reliability improvements, and capital replacement projects addressing obsolescence. The supervisor works closely with the Specialist, Millwrights, and Maintenance Supervisor, and collaborates with Operations, Maintenance, Process Engineering, Capital Projects, corporate technical networks, contractors, and vendors. The role is accountable for safe, efficient operation and the integrity of rotating equipment assets and protective systems in support of production targets. It also leads reliability work during turnarounds and outages, develops direct reports, and ensures assigned reliability objectives are achieved. The position operates in a manufacturing environment with both indoor and outdoor work and exposure to weather, temperature extremes, noise, moving mechanical parts, electrical current, scaffolding and heights, heat, chemicals, fumes, dust, gases, oils, and potentially poor ventilation. Respirator and gas-mask use is required. Physical demands include occasional lifting or moving up to 20 pounds and frequent exertion up to 10 pounds; indoor work may involve sedentary activity. The employee must be able to see written documents and computer screens, adjust focus, and perceive and distinguish sounds at normal speaking levels.

  • Advanced knowledge of turbines, centrifugal pumps, positive-displacement pumps, reciprocating compressors, fans, and auxiliary rotating equipment systems.
  • Knowledge of vibration analysis, oil analysis, lubrication, and condition-monitoring technologies.
  • Strong understanding of reliability-centered maintenance, predictive maintenance, and precision-maintenance practices.
  • Working knowledge of rotating equipment design, repair practices, and applicable industry standards.
  • Knowledge of Process Safety Management principles and Management of Change processes.
  • Experience with Root Cause Failure Analysis methodologies and reliability investigations.
  • Experience with capital projects, equipment specifications, and reliability-improvement initiatives.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills and the ability to influence across organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, mentor, and develop technical personnel.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting capability, and safety-focused leadership.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, problem-solving, and data-analysis abilities; ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to delegate work, hold team members accountable, resolve conflict, and demonstrate urgency and ownership.
