Function: Intern/Co-op Job Summary: The Rotating Equipment Engineer Co-op/Intern will support plant reliability and maintenance efforts by assisting with projects and daily tasks focused on rotating mechanical equipment (such as pumps, compressors, turbines, and related systems). Under the guidance of experienced engineers, the intern will help identify opportunities for improvement, participate in condition monitoring and failure analysis, and contribute to the implementation of solutions that enhance equipment reliability and plant performance.

Requirements

  • Must be a current college student enrolled in an accredited Mechanical Engineering program (or related field) at an ABET‑accredited institution.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to perform field work in an operating plant environment.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to fulfill a summer internship or 7–8 month co-op assignment.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous co-op or intern experience is preferred.
  • experience with condition monitoring is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with monitoring and reporting on the condition and performance of rotating equipment using tools such as vibration analysis, oil analysis, and process data.
  • Support the Mechanical Integrity program by helping to maintain documentation and records for rotating equipment.
  • Participate in technical investigations of equipment failures and assist in developing recommendations to prevent recurrence.
  • Help develop, review, and update maintenance procedures and preventive maintenance programs for rotating equipment.
  • Assist with planning and execution of maintenance activities during routine maintenance and shutdowns.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams to gather technical information, perform basic engineering calculations, and present findings including presentations.
  • Communicate effectively with plant personnel, vendors, and contractors.
  • Support day-to-day maintenance and reliability tasks as assigned by supervising engineers.
  • Support the Management of Change (MOC) process for documenting any changes related to rotating equipment. Coordinate all documentation changes with the engineering department.
