About The Position

The Intern/Co-Op position at Maxcess Rotometrics is targeting Junior or Senior level undergraduate students currently enrolled in an Accredited engineering program at a College or University. This position will provide an opportunity for the student to work alongside the engineering team to support the design and manufacturing of converting tools (rotary dies, print cylinders, etc). This type of tooling is used to convert materials into labels for wine/beer bottles, medical and automotive devices (band aid’s, gaskets) and non-wovens (diapers, face masks).

Requirements

  • Junior or Senior level undergraduate student
  • Currently enrolled in an Accredited engineering program at a College or University
  • Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science

Nice To Haves

  • Self-starter, hands on, clear communicator, strong mechanical and/or software programming aptitude, desire/curiosity for machine design, controls and troubleshooting, ability to create reports and presentations, ability to clearly report out on test results and recommendations.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing processes, experience with machine controls (CAM, PLC, VBA, Python), servos and step motors, and interest in machine design and automation.
  • Establishing MS Sharepoint work flow a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, proficient in 2D design/drawings along with 3D Modeling, able to read component blueprints, Microsoft Office.
  • Programming skills (C, C++,.NET, VB), ERP System understanding and FEA a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Research current products, bill of materials and develop understanding of how the product flows thru production.
  • Support engineering team in a continuous improvement environment with projects that may span multi sites.
  • Data entry
  • BOM support
  • Automation projects to streamline processes
  • Periodic testing, and results summary with report out
  • Light design work to support New Products or Research into new technology, based on business need and skill set of the student.
  • Flex Die process optimization: Chrome/passivation, fixture design
  • Tooling & Fixture Design assist: 3D modeling, DFM
  • Support Continuous Improvement efforts: Improve workflow, submission quality, and dashboards
  • Support in Automated Assembly & Measurements: Fixture Design, Analysis and Testing
  • Support Kaizen events, focusing on product flow/process improvements: Safety, Quality, Design, Delivery, Cost
