About The Position

Responsible for planning and coordination of services for the Ross Program including reporting for grant compliance. Connecting housing clients with needed resources, and working with existing housing programs and community partners to leverage additional resources and opportunities to help clients achieve stable housing and self-sufficiency. This is a high-impact position that requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Associates in Human Services Degree, or a combination of education and experience in a related field may be substituted for a degree
  • Three years (3) of experience working in affordable housing, social services, or human resource field or related fields
  • Knowledge of federal/state housing grants and federal/state nondiscrimination laws
  • Must have a valid Alaska State driver's license and must remain insurable under the Tribe's policy
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, or obtain training within 90 days of hire
  • Conducts business in a service-oriented manner that is attentive, pleasant, respectful and kind when dealing with un'ina, visitors, co-workers and others
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently, and meet deadlines
  • Must be willing to learn and have an aptitude to learn software applications to perform scope of work and duties assigned
  • Effective communication skills with culturally diverse clients and partners including those with mental and behavior health barriers including substance abuse and people with disabilities
  • Ability to advocate, organize, problem solve, and provide results for AI/AN and/or low-income families, individuals with disabilities, individuals with housing and criminal barriers, and the elderly
  • This position is a Covered Position subject to all requirements of the Alaska Barrier Crimes Act (ABCA) and to the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act, (ICPA). ABCA and ICPA requirements apply and must be complied with at all times in order to remain in the position.

Responsibilities

  • Supports clients to overcome housing barriers and achieve permanent housing placement
  • Creates and maintain a community resource list
  • Completes initial evaluations, determine eligibility, and engage participants in individualized housing stability plans with follow up case management
  • Assists clients in achieving financial literacy by setting up bank accounts, creating household budgets, and helping them identify strategies to pay bills on time
  • Assists clients by utilizing warm transfers and referrals to employment and education services
  • Provides elder/disabled clients with resources and support to Age in place, which may include applying for SNAP benefits, SSI/SSDI, VA benefits, Medicaid/Medicare, etc
  • Attends training to ensure that the program remains in compliance with the grants stipulations
  • Ensures compliance with Tribal, federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, Tribal policies and TERO ordinance
