About The Position

Ensure railroad track compliance with Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and Union Pacific regulations.

Requirements

  • Proficient verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver's license
  • Current Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) 213.7 Parts A, B, and C qualification and is this qualification active in the MOQ database
  • Current Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) 213.7 Parts A, B, and C qualifications
  • Able to understand and apply safety rules, practice safe work habits, identify safety risks and avoid potentially risky behaviors and situations
  • Experience reading and understanding instructions (examples may include: operating and safety rules, bulletins, special instructions, and federal regulatory documents)
  • Must not have a current attendance status of 1st Offense, 2nd Offense, or Dismissal as per the Union Pacific Attendance Policy.
  • Adhere to the Union Pacific MAPS policy by not having a current status of Training 1, Training 2 or Dismissal.
  • Must not have a current Critical Safety Rule violation.
  • Employees seeking a transfer must have completed two years of continuous service in their current position/craft, unless furloughed.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring company sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Position is governed by American Railway and Airway Supervisors Association (ARASA) Collective Bargaining Agreement, which is a right of selection position
  • 3 years experience working in Railroad Maintenance of Way
  • 1 year experience working as a track foreman

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, contractors and/or customers and effectively handle conflict situations
  • Inspect main line, yard and siding railroad tracks, switches and other facilities to ensure compliance with Union Pacific and FRA standards
  • Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA); practice safe work habits to prevent on-the-job accidents and injuries
