About The Position

This role plays a vital part in the daily operations of a residential facility, providing supervision and ensuring the safety of clients while fostering a therapeutic environment. The facilitator is responsible for ensuring that each client's treatment plan is actively integrated into their daily life. The position involves facilitating ropes course and adventure-based learning groups for clients, with a strong emphasis on group and course safety, including pre and post-group inspections, facilitation, setup, and takedown. The facilitator is tasked with properly setting up and inspecting the course and equipment, and instructing clients on their safe use. This role requires being a positive role model, directing activities, and empowering clients through "Challenge by Choice" to aid in their full potential development. The facilitator must handle stressful situations calmly and efficiently, understand emergency procedures, and respond professionally. They are responsible for supervising all course-related activities, directing and debriefing participants, and working collaboratively with a team for scheduling and operations. The role demands excellent communication skills to interact with diverse individuals and encourage communication among participants. The facilitator must exercise good judgment in independent decisions regarding the safe and effective use of the course, be available regularly, arrive on time, and maintain commitment to the course's success by following procedures. They will lead in developing appropriate element combinations to meet group goals, tailoring experiences to client capabilities, and preparing/storing equipment. The facilitator instructs groups on activity sequences and goals, cultivates learning in both technical and experiential aspects, and promotes constructive discussion to integrate learned experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Play a vital role in the day to day operation of the residential facility
  • Provide supervision and attend to the safety needs of the clients
  • Maintain a therapeutic environment
  • Ensure the treatment plan is a living document in the daily life of the client
  • Participate in the client’s daily planning routine
  • Supervise, coach, and mentor the client during meals, dressing and personal hygiene
  • Monitor cleaning of room, chores, and life tactical skills
  • Provide structure, discipline and security in meeting the needs of the youths
  • Serve as a role model and source of feedback to the clients
  • Supervise and monitor the clients at all times
  • Provide positive interaction with the clients and demonstrate appropriate de-escalation technique
  • Facilitate ropes course and adventure based learning groups for the clients of SFCS
  • Be responsible for group and course safety
  • Conduct pre and post group inspection
  • Conduct group facilitation
  • Perform set up and take down of the ropes course
  • Insure the safety of each client participating in the course

  • Cultivate learning among the individuals and the groups, including the technical skills as well as the experiential aspects of the course
  • Promote constructive discussion processing the participants experiences in order to integrate what has been learned
