About The Position

The rootEd Pathways Advisor (Program Coordinator I P11), under general supervision, coordinates the planning, development and implementation of assigned programs - providing a support system that promotes student engagement and supporting implementation of program objectives. The position provides embedded transition, pathway, and career advising support designed to strengthen post-secondary access, persistence, workforce alignment, and student success across rural and under-resourced communities. The Advisor works collaboratively with students, families, school personnel, institutional stakeholders, and regional and community partners to support postsecondary planning, workforce pathway development, educational transitions, and navigation of educational, workforce, and community-based resources. The position assists with implementation of pathway advising and student support initiatives aligned with organizational priorities, grant objectives, and regional workforce needs.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Four (4) years of related experience.
Position requires strong interpersonal, verbal, written communication, and public speaking skills.
Requires strong organizational skills.
Ability to multi-task, set priorities, track progress, and meet deadlines.
Attention to detail with an ability to exercise discretion and sound judgement, utilize problem-solving and critical thinking, and maintain confidentiality.
Ability to work in a professional, fast-paced environment with individuals and groups from a variety of backgrounds and levels of experience.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to organize information for effective presentation and facilitate both virtual and in-person groups.
Must be goal-oriented and a self-starter.
Ability to work both collaboratively and independently within organizational and community-based environments.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, families, schools, and community partners.
Ability to work independently within community-embedded settings.
Ability to maintain records, prepare reports, and manage multiple priorities.
Able to travel.
Some evening and weekend work.

Nice To Haves

Degree in education, counseling, social sciences, or related fields preferred.
Experience working with high school, postsecondary, non-traditional, or transition-aged student populations.
Experience with education, workforce development, mentoring, student support, counseling, outreach, or community engagement initiatives.
Experience supporting rural and/or under-resourced groups or communities
Experience with pathway development, student support systems, workforce alignment, persistence initiatives, or transition supports.
Previous mentoring or tutoring experience.
Knowledge of Salesforce CRM or similar data systems.
Bilingual skills preferred.
Knowledge of postsecondary access, workforce pathways, and student success resources preferred.

Responsibilities

Provides individual and group advising related to postsecondary planning, educational transitions, workforce pathways, career readiness, financial aid awareness, and navigation of educational and workforce opportunities.
Assist participants in identifying goals, evaluating options, developing transition plans, and accessing resources that support postsecondary and workforce success.
Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with students, families, school personnel, and community stakeholders to support participant recruitment, engagement, and success.
Conducts outreach, presentations, workshops, school-based activities, and individual engagement efforts designed to increase awareness of postsecondary education and workforce pathway opportunities.
Assists with participant identification, enrollment, retention, and ongoing engagement while connecting students to resources and supports that strengthen educational transitions and long-term success.
Responds to inquiries regarding program offerings.
Coordinates program communications and marketing.
Evaluates and tracks participant engagement, progress, and outcomes. Provides referrals, follow-up support, resource navigation, and individualized assistance designed to strengthen persistence, transition success, and participant achievement.
Maintains records and documentation related to participant activities and outcomes.
Compiles program statistics and maintain program records and databases.
Plans and implement programs and assist in their evaluation.
Makes frequent visits to partner schools, colleges, and community organizations to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with administrators, counselors, teachers, workforce partners, parents, and students.
Works collaboratively with the Program Director and stakeholders to support pathway advising, workforce development, transition activities, and student success initiatives.
May assist in identifying funding opportunities.
Assists with implementation of pathway advising and student support activities aligned with grant objectives and program priorities.
Plans and implements program events such as conferences, seminars, lectures, meetings and workshops.
May develop and update training materials and deliver training sessions.
May assist in preparation and monitoring of budgets for programs and events.
Supports coordination of pathway-aligned activities including post-secondary planning, career awareness and exploration, career-connected learning, industry engagement, work-based learning opportunities, employer site visits and industry tours, educational enrichment activities, transition support services, tutoring coordination, test preparation support, and related student success initiatives.
Participates in required training, professional development, and organizational activities.
Maintains knowledge of postsecondary access, workforce development, student success strategies, and regional workforce needs and opportunities.
Maintains 100% compliance with timely completion of required System, University and job-specific online training courses.
