About The Position

Hyde Park Hospitality is hiring for a Room Service Server at Hilton O'Hare Airport! This role involves setting up, delivering, and serving food and beverage items to guests in a courteous and timely manner. The server will be responsible for retrieving checks, setting tables, picking up orders from the kitchen or bar, ensuring order completeness, and delivering orders to guests. Additionally, the position includes presenting checks, obtaining payment, preparing amenities, and assisting with tray removal. Supportive functions include attending meetings, performing side work, adhering to liquor regulations, general cleaning, and completing other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations and etiquette.
  • Knowledge of the appropriate table settings, service ware and menu items.
  • Ability to read, speak and write the English language in order to communicate with guests.
  • Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items.
  • Ability to transport up to 30 lbs. on a continuous basis.
  • Ability to operate beverage and toast equipment.
  • Previous food service experience required.
  • Food Service Sanitation certification.
  • Alcohol Server Permit (if required).

Responsibilities

  • Retrieve check from order taker, set table and pick up order from the kitchen or bar. When picking up, be certain that order is complete, i.e., all food, beverages, alcoholic beverages, and all condiments.
  • Carry trays up to 30 lbs. or push wheeled carts to deliver room service orders to guests in a professional manner.
  • Prep room service trays and tables in anticipation of incoming orders.
  • Present check and obtain payment. Delivers payment/signed check to order taker for closing.
  • Assist bus persons in removing trays and tables from guest floors and returning them to designated locations.
  • Prepare amenities to guest rooms.
  • Attend mandatory meetings.
  • Perform all assigned side work such as replenishing condiments and restocking side stands.
  • Abide by all state, federal and corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages.
  • Perform general cleaning tasks to adhere to health and safety standards.
  • Keep work area clean and organized.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of the service standards.
  • Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by HPH from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position.
  • Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of HPH.
