About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This position is a 70hr/pp position. This position will work between the hours of 6:30am-4pm on various weekdays and work every other weekend/holiday. Room Service Assistants checks patient trays for accuracy before delivering to patient room. Disassembling of patient trays in dish area once tray is picked-up. Keeping dish area and work station clean and sanitary at all times. Performs a variety of duties involved with food service for patients. Serves meals and snacks to patients in a professional manner. Ensures rotation of floor supplies and maintains supplies up to PAR (Periodic Automatic Replenishment) levels. Delivers appropriate room service menus to patients, instructing patients on meal ordering systems. Assesses patients’ ability to utilize the meal order system.

Requirements

Direct customer service experience preferred.
Previous food service experience and/or work with therapeutic diets preferred.
On-the-job training provided.

Responsibilities

Checks patient trays for accuracy before delivering to patient room.
Disassembles patient trays in the dish area once the tray is picked-up.
Keeps the dish area and work station clean and sanitary at all times.
Serves meals and snacks to patients in a professional manner.
Ensures rotation of floor supplies and maintains supplies up to PAR (Periodic Automatic Replenishment) levels.
Delivers appropriate room service menus to patients, instructing patients on meal ordering systems.
Assesses patients’ ability to utilize the meal order system.
Communicates effectively, timely and often with nursing staff, nutrition techs, dietitians and call center staff.
Uses computerized diet sheets, accesses patient computer system, and retrieves completed meals from patients' rooms and records intake and calorie count information.
Maintains compliance with all Hazardous Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines.
Obtains, transcribes and processes meal orders from patients and visitors over the telephone, verifying that meal orders meet diet order parameters.
Provides appropriate menu for diet.
Possesses excellent customer service skills continuously.
Displays listening skills and effectively communicates with co-workers, supervisors and nursing staff.
Establishes effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and nursing staff.
Evaluates and maintains quality control standards.
