About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This position is a Room Service Assistant (Host) at the Broadway Campus. Scheduled hours are 7am-330pm varying days and includes rotating weekends and holidays. The role performs a variety of duties involved with food service for patients, serving meals and snacks in a professional manner. It ensures the rotation of floor supplies and maintains supplies up to PAR levels. The assistant delivers appropriate room service menus to patients, instructing them on meal ordering systems and assessing their ability to utilize the system. The job involves effective, timely, and frequent communication with nursing staff, nutrition techs, dietitians, and call center staff. It requires using computerized diet sheets, accessing the patient computer system, retrieving completed meals, and recording intake and calorie count information. Maintaining compliance with all Hazardous Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines is essential. The role also involves obtaining, transcribing, and processing meal orders from patients and visitors over the telephone, verifying that meal orders meet diet order parameters, and providing appropriate menus for diets. Excellent customer service, listening skills, and effective communication with co-workers, supervisors, and nursing staff are crucial. Establishing effective working relationships and evaluating and maintaining quality control standards are also key aspects of the position.

Requirements

  • Direct customer service experience preferred.
  • Previous food service experience and/or work with therapeutic diets preferred.
  • On-the-job training provided.

Responsibilities

  • Serves meals and snacks to patients in a professional manner.
