About The Position

St. Elizabeth Healthcare is hiring a Room Service Ambassador to join our Dearborn Nutrition Services Team. This role involves serving meals to patients in a personalized, professional, and efficient manner, instructing them on the meal ordering system, and assisting them in placing orders. The ambassador will assess patients' capabilities to use the system, communicate with the healthcare team to ensure nutritional intake, and demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness, and empathy in all interactions. The role also includes delivering and serving patient meals using service excellence standards, utilizing the AIDET model, resolving patient meal issues, and being familiar with diet types, restrictions, and special patient needs. Communication with nursing unit personnel is key for glucose monitoring, menu delivery, and resolving concerns. Additionally, the ambassador will manage inventory, order, and replenish floor stock food supplies, and maintain cash handling practices for guest tray service. Quality and compliance are essential, including proper hand hygiene, isolation procedures, and adherence to all regulatory, safety, sanitation, and security standards. Participation in performance improvement studies and other assigned duties are also part of the role.

Responsibilities

  • Serve meals to patient in a personalized, professional, efficient manner
  • Instruct patients on meal ordering system
  • Assist patient in placing meal orders
  • Assess the patient’s capabilities to utilize the meal order system
  • Communicate with healthcare team to ensure the patient’s nutritional intake
  • Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors and other employees regardless of cultural background.
  • Deliver and serve patient meals using service excellence standards.
  • Utilize the AIDET model when interacting with internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrate professional and courteous behavior.
  • Resolve patient meal issues quickly and with a positive outcome.
  • Introduce and assess patients to meal ordering system, be familiar with diet types and restrictions, recognize special needs of patient and provide assistance.
  • Communicate positively with assigned nursing unit personnel to facilitate: proper glucose monitoring, appropriate menu delivery, timely resolution of patient meal concerns and special situations.
  • Inventory, order and replenish bulk food supplies known as floor stocks on assigned nursing unit.
  • Monitor and maintain effective cash handling and accounting practices regarding patient guest tray service
  • Consistent use of proper hand hygiene, isolation procedures and hair restraints throughout the room service process.
  • Role model clean, neat and professional appearance.
  • Compliance with all local, state, federal and medical center regulatory, safety, sanitation and security standards.
  • Participates in performance improvement (PI) studies, assist with data collection and supports action plans.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
