About The Position

The Room Attendant is responsible for cleaning guest rooms, ensuring they are fresh, clean, and well-maintained. This includes daily cleaning of bathrooms, changing linens, replenishing amenities, and maintaining the cleanliness of common areas. The role also involves assisting guests, managing lost and found items, and performing deep cleaning tasks as needed. The Room Attendant must communicate effectively with supervisors, respond to emergencies, and ensure compliance with established rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in housekeeping
  • Preferably with cleaning rooms in a hotel/resort typesetting.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans guest rooms including check out and stayovers.
  • Mops bathroom floors, scrubs bathtubs, toilets and removes black marks from walls, floors, and doors.
  • Ensures all bedding is fresh and clean; requires changing sheets, pillowcase, and towels daily unless requested by guest.
  • Cleans coffee pots, coffee trays and ice buckets including lids daily.
  • Replenishes amenities including shampoos, soaps, coffee, and condiment packs daily.
  • Replenishes coffee cups, toilet paper, Kleenex, and all paper in guest directory as needed.
  • Cleans microwaves and refrigerators daily.
  • Defrosts the freezer when needed.
  • Tags lost and found items and takes them to housekeeping/laundry room.
  • Washes windows, both inside and out of the guest rooms as needed.
  • Gathers dishes in the hallways from room service if needed and returns them to the kitchen.
  • Dusts window ledges, window tracts, blinds, and other surfaces in guest rooms.
  • Ensures all laundry is stripped and sent to housekeeping by 1:00 p.m. If a laundry attendant is not available, laundry will be delivered to housekeeping/laundry by room attendant.
  • Cleans carpets and upholstery in guest rooms.
  • Cleans spots on carpets and upholstery; makes every effort to see that spots are cleaned before other housekeeping staff is requested; notifies when spots cannot be removed so appropriate personnel can be sent to the rooms.
  • Performs room checks as needed.
  • Delivers requested items to guests.
  • Delivers linen to linen closet.
  • Keeps hallways vacuumed and free of litter as needed.
  • Keeps room attendant carts restocked; closets stocked, neat and clean.
  • Returns to clean guest rooms and reports repairs if deficiencies are found by management.
  • Performs deep cleaning of rooms during winter months.
  • Cleans patios; keeps patio free from cobwebs, bird droppings, cleans insects from interior and exterior lights and discarded cigarettes; including but not limited to the shrubs and windows.
  • Assists with delivery and organization of supplies.
  • Assists any persons in building or grounds needing direction or Resort information.
  • Maintains communication with Housekeeping Supervisor regarding any issues that might reveal a weakness or vulnerable area of housekeeping that is discovered during operations.
  • Responds to any emergency at the property while on duty.
  • May fill in for absent or sick employees.
  • Ensures compliance with established rules and regulations.
  • Assists in the recommendation, development, and implementation of improvements to systems and procedures.
  • Provides leadership in the event of an emergency.
  • Maintains composure in all situations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
