Roofing Service Technician Assistant
About The Position
The Roofing Service Technician Assistant is responsible for assisting in locating leaks and performing professional quality roof repairs in a safe and timely manner, while treating customers and fellow employees with courtesy and respect. Job duties also include the completion of defined scope projects and preventative maintenance activities. The role involves assisting in the operation and maintenance of company-issued equipment, maintaining clean and stocked trucks, and utilizing industry-standard repair techniques. Daily assignments must be completed in a timely manner with proper paperwork. Additional duties include removing roof clutter, maintaining a clean work area, transporting hot tar, cleaning and maintaining roofing equipment, covering and securing materials, cleaning dump and staging areas, keeping debris away from the roof, staging materials properly, spudding, sealing, and maintaining tie-ins, preparing and priming surfaces, safely disposing of hazardous materials, placing plates and screws, covering equipment and materials as needed, and being aware of surroundings including people, hazards, and scopes of work.
Requirements
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
- Successful Pre-Employment Drug and Agility tests.
- Comfortable climbing ladders up to 60 ft tall.
- Ability to lift 100 LBS or more.
- Successful Background Check.
- Ability to withstand demands of extreme weather conditions and high temperatures.
- Capable of bending over most of the day and working on knees excessively throughout the day.
- Able to pass a government background check per project requirements.
- Knowledge of basic roofing tools.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Nice To Haves
- High School Diploma or GED preferred, not required.
- 2 years commercial roofing service technician experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assisting in locating leaks and performing professional quality roof repairs in a safe and timely manner.

- Assisting in the operation and maintenance of all company issued equipment such as vehicles, power tools, phones, hand tools, etc.
- Maintaining trucks to ensure they are always stocked and cleaned inside and out.
- Utilizing industry standard manufacturer approved repair techniques.
- Completing daily assignments in a timely manner with completion of proper paperwork.
- Removing clutter on roof and maintaining a clean & neat work area.
- Transporting hot tar from kettle to work area.
- Cleaning and maintaining roofing equipment.
- Covering and securing material and equipment on roof.
- Cleaning and maintaining dump and staging area on ground.
- Keeping debris away from roof.
- Keeping material grouped and properly staged.
- Spudding, sealing and maintaining tie ins.
- Properly preparing and priming surfaces.
- Safely disposing of hazardous materials.
- Placing plates and screws in proper locations.
- Covering equipment and materials as needed.
- Being aware of surroundings – people, hazards, scopes of work.
