About The Position

The Roofing Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate material quantity estimates, takeoffs, and quotations for roofing projects. This position reviews construction drawings, plans, and specifications to develop detailed estimates and support the bidding process. The Roofing Estimator works closely with the sales team, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure estimates are accurate, timely, and aligned with project requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience estimating construction, roofing, architectural products, or related industries; or a demonstrated aptitude to learn estimating functions.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Experience using digital takeoff or estimating software.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the roofing industry.
  • Experience with Edge, On Center, or similar digital takeoff software.
  • Previous experience supporting a sales or estimating team.
  • Knowledge of construction materials, bidding processes, and project estimating.

Responsibilities

  • Complete detailed and itemized material quantity estimates from owner- or contractor-furnished plan sets.
  • Prepare roofing takeoffs and quotations from architectural drawings and construction documents.
  • Read and interpret construction blueprints, drawings, plans, and specifications to prepare accurate project estimates.
  • Gather, analyze, and calculate takeoff data utilizing digital takeoff and estimating software.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with vendors and suppliers to support accurate pricing and material sourcing.
  • Ensure the thoroughness and accuracy of estimates while supporting efficient project execution by field operations teams.
  • Support the sales team by answering questions, providing estimate clarifications, and adjusting estimates and scopes based on customer feedback.
  • Maintain and track bid schedules to ensure timely completion and submission of estimates and proposals.
  • Perform clerical and administrative duties associated with maintaining project files, job folders, bid documentation, and estimating records.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to support project planning, estimating, and sales objectives.
  • Assist with special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
