About The Position

The Material Handler performs routine material handling tasks. This role also functions as a backup CDL driver, supporting transportation needs during absences, peak workloads, or operational requirements.

Requirements

  • Read, write, and comprehend English or Spanish as required by the branch location.
  • Knowledge of roofing material and/or construction and distribution.
  • Valid state CDL Class A or B Driver’s License with clean driving record including: less than three points or one violation, no DUI or DWI within the last three (3) years, no revocation or suspension of Driver’s License.
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions.
  • Ability to bend, reach, lift, and climb.
  • Must lift up to 100 pounds of material continually for up to two hours at a time.
  • Ability to work on multi-story buildings at various heights.
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, rain, or shine.
  • Requires a high degree of attention to ensure proper delivery while preventing damage to materials and equipment.
  • Ability to maintain loyalty to Gulfeagle Supply.
  • Ability to interact with the public in a courteous and professional manner. Tact and diplomacy required in dealing with customer personnel at delivery points.
  • Ability to handle all functions of the job in a safe manner.
  • Must pass substance abuse screening; employees are subject to random substance abuse screening under company policy.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for loading or assisting in loading and securing materials on trucks daily.
  • Assists in verifying the quantities of materials for accuracy.
  • Assists driver in locating the job site.
  • Spot driver when backing up into a job site.
  • Direct driver in placement of the conveyor.
  • Assists in loading and/or securing materials on trucks daily by using crane, conveyor, piggybacks and/or by hand.
  • Responsible for climbing up to a 40-foot ladder to deliver materials on a pitch of up to an 8/12 roof.
  • Ensure proper stacking and distribution in the placement of materials on the roof.
  • Ensure truck is properly equipped for delivery including filling cooler, strapping materials, loading ladder, and other as needed.
  • Responsible for OSHA compliance as it relates to oneself and the company.
  • Assist in taking inventory quarterly or as needed.
  • Maintain warehouse, yard, and trucks in a proper presentable manner.
  • Minor repairs as needed.
  • Responsible for the safe handling of materials including wearing back brace, gloves, shoes, and other safety devices as appropriate.
  • Responsible for aiding in the safe operation of vehicles as it relates to the customer’s property and Gulfeagle’s property.
  • Aiding Customers with materials, reporting problems with deliveries, service issues, and all other as needed.
