About The Position

We are seeking a reliable, customer-focused Roof Inspector / Field Technician to inspect residential roofing systems, identify damage and maintenance issues, document findings, and be the positive first contact for homeowners. This position is not a high-pressure sales position. The priority is providing homeowners with accurate information and professional service. This position combines roof inspections, customer service, technology, drone operation, and minor roofing repairs. The ideal candidate is comfortable working outdoors, climbing ladders and roofs, talking with homeowners, using mobile technology, and solving small roofing problems without requiring a full production crew. The goal is simple: inspect the roof accurately, be friendly to homeowners, document everything, and fix what can reasonably be fixed on the spot.

Requirements

  • Comfortable climbing ladders and working at heights.
  • Comfortable walking on residential roofs when conditions permit.
  • Basic computer and smartphone skills.
  • Ability to learn and consistently use apps.
  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work independently without constant supervision.
  • Ability to lift approximately 35 pounds and perform physical work as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Perform residential roof inspections to identify missing, damaged, or deteriorated shingles, storm and wind damage, leaks and potential leak sources, damaged flashing, pipe boot deterioration, ventilation issues, gutter and drainage concerns, signs of aging or premature roof failure, and improper previous repairs or installation issues.
  • Inspect roofs from the ground, ladder, attic, and roof surface when safe and appropriate.
  • Determine whether a roof appears suitable for repair or may require replacement.
  • Take detailed photographs and videos documenting roof conditions.
  • Prepare inspection reports and communicate findings to customers.
  • Operate company-approved drones to inspect roofs where appropriate.
  • Capture high-quality aerial photographs and video.
  • Identify areas that may require closer inspection.
  • Use drone imagery to supplement physical inspections.
  • Perform basic roofing repairs within the technician's training and company-approved scope, including replacing damaged pipe boots, replacing individual shingles, repairing minor flashing issues, re-sealing exposed fasteners, applying appropriate roofing sealants, repairing minor areas of damaged flashing, replacing small sections of damaged roofing materials, and addressing minor leak sources.
  • Perform other small maintenance repairs approved by management.
  • Use company-provided mobile applications and technology, including smartphone/tablet applications, digital inspection forms, photo and video documentation, GPS/location applications, email and basic Microsoft Office/Google Workspace applications.
  • Accurately upload and organize inspection photographs and documentation.
  • Meet homeowners at their property and provide a professional first impression.
  • Explain inspection findings in clear, understandable language.
  • Answer basic questions about roofing systems, repairs, maintenance, and replacement.
  • Provide honest recommendations without using high-pressure sales tactics.
  • Explain repair options and, when appropriate, provide estimates or connect the customer with the sales/estimating team.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and courteous attitude.
  • Protect the customer's property while performing inspections and repairs.
  • Follow all company safety procedures.
  • Properly use ladders, fall protection, PPE, and other safety equipment.
  • Recognize unsafe roof conditions and refuse to access areas that present unreasonable risk.
  • Maintain company vehicles, tools, ladders, drones, and inspection equipment.
  • Maintain accurate daily records of inspections, repairs, materials, and customer interactions.
