About The Position

This is a seasonal position with year-round benefits, allowing for time off during the winters. The role is responsible for safely operating a heavy rolling machine to compact earth, subgrade, or bituminous surfaces to grade specifications per contract, while maintaining a professional and courteous attitude with customers and team members.

Requirements

  • Ability to provide and maintain proper licensure, medical card and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including overtime and some Saturdays.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years equipment operation and maintenance (Roller) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily equipment, walk around and site inspections to identify and correct any unsafe conditions and keep equipment properly maintained.
  • Safely and properly perform maintenance on equipment.
  • Safely and properly operate roller.
  • Identify appropriate rolling pattern and drives machine in successive overlapping passes over surface to be compacted to prepare quality surface.
  • Determine speed and direction of machine, based on knowledge of compressibility of material under changing temperatures, so that ridges are not formed by excessive compaction.
  • Assist laborer or roller operator with dumping trucks and keeping load counts.
  • Help clean curb and gutter areas.
  • Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with people under high stress situations.
  • Troubleshoot and problem solve situations/problems (material quality, equipment operation/repair, etc.).
  • Monitor and discuss production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors.
  • Ensure OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulations are followed.
  • Assist in loading and unloading equipment for transport, including load securement.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
