About The Position

As a Roll Tender, you will be responsible for staging and transporting rolls, assisting with roll changes during press runs, verifying material accuracy, and maintaining proper inventory flow to support production schedules. You will work closely with Press Operators and the press crew to ensure equipment is supplied efficiently, downtime is minimized, and quality standards are maintained throughout the shift.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
• Previous Roll Tending experience required
• Ability to read and interpret work instructions
• Ability to communicate with press team members and supervision
• Requires use of proper body mechanics with pushing, pulling, reaching, lifting, squatting, kneeling and bending
• Ability to lift 25lbs frequently and up to 50lbs occasionally
• All applicants must be 18 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Verify roll inventory number against job tickets
• Record roll numbers and weight on roll log sheet
• Prep rolls for splicer and stage rolls in appropriate location
• Move rolls into position and hang rolls in splicer
• Check oil levels in units twice each shift and fill as needed
• Check overflow pans each shift; empty and clean as needed
• Hang plates on the press
• Help web press during make ready or web break
• Return paper to inventory at the end of each job
• Complete paperwork at the end of each job and each shift
• Keep work areas clean throughout the shift
• Work with Lead Operator and train as time allows
• Participate in continuous improvement process
• Help Press Assistants as required or directed
• Ensure production meets department goals and metrics
• Check conductivity/record once a shift
• Perform all other duties as assigned
