About The Position

Roll-Off Drivers are responsible for preparing, securing, and transporting open-top containers to various disposal sites, including landfills, transfer facilities, and customer job sites. This role requires navigating diverse environments such as driveways, alleyways, job sites, and traffic-filled roadways, often in tight spaces and involving backing up over long distances. The driver will handle pick-up and hauling of containers, perform checks on the container, complete reports, and adhere to all transportation laws and procedures. Maintaining a clean truck, interacting positively with others, providing quality customer service, and following safety policies are key aspects of this position. The driver should possess strong record-keeping, communication, and organizational skills.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience as a Class A or B Commercial Truck Driver
  • Clean driving record
  • Ability to operate manual transmission
  • Ability to operate a roll off dumpster
  • Attention to detail
  • Communicate with dispatch, supervisors regarding routes and responsibilities
  • Must pass a drug screening

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, secure, and transport open-top containers to various disposal sites and customer job sites.
  • Navigate driveways, alleyways, job sites, and traffic-filled roadways, including operating in tight environments and backing up long distances.
  • Handle pick-up and hauling of containers.
  • Check the container for compliance and material types.
  • Complete reports and maintain accurate driver logs.
  • Comply with all transportation laws, safety rules, and regulations.
  • Maintain a clean truck.
  • Interact well with others and provide quality customer service.
  • Communicate with dispatch, supervisors, and customers regarding routes, responsibilities, and requests.
  • Deliver and empty construction site dumpsters.
  • Verify types of materials being transported and ensure they do not exceed weight restrictions.
  • Inspect the truck before and after every shift, checking oil, gas, water levels, lights, and tires.
  • Promptly report any accidents, injuries, or mechanical faults to management.
  • Follow the assigned route and understand customer needs.
  • Hooking up and disengaging dumpsters.
  • Opening and closing large dumpster doors.
  • Maneuvering through landfills and job sites.
  • Climbing in and out of large trucks.
  • Driving locally and returning home each night.
  • Pass a drug screening.
