About The Position

Delivery and pick-up of roll-off containers in and around the Duluth area. This role involves completing work orders on an Android tablet for proper customer billing, understanding and abiding by DOT hours-of-service regulations, and communicating with Dispatch to ensure compliance. The driver will positively represent Veit on site and on the road with customer service skills and courteous driving. Responsibilities include communicating pickup or delivery changes, identifying future jobsite leads, and maintaining the appearance of assigned equipment through regular cleaning. The role also requires performing thorough pre and post-trip inspections and communicating with mechanics to identify problems and schedule repairs. Other projects or duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Six months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) License
  • Medical card for operating a DOT vehicle
  • Experience using email and electronic tracking or ability to learn new computer hardware and software
  • Ability to read maps, follow directions, and navigate with GPS
  • Ability to comply with all applicable safety precautions
  • Ability to follow all policies and procedures outlined in Veit’s safety training video and written manuals
  • Ability to follow specific directions for vendor pickup and deliveries
  • Ability to satisfactorily perform each essential duty and responsibility
  • Working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to driving truck and entering onto jobsites and personal property
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts when needed
  • Ability to effectively communicate with coworkers, management of all levels and most importantly, customer and clients
  • Ability to learn mechanics of truck for automated tarping and proper procedure for manual tarping if needed
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with on-time dependability and consistency as required by management and/or project requirements
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must maintain satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record
