About The Position

American Buildings – Illinois is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Roll form Fabricator Teammate. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Perform various fit-ups, tackling, and welding operations on structural assemblies. Weld in accordance with all applicable standards and procedures. Install stiffeners, brackets, face plates, and components using prints. Utilize clamps, jigs, tape, squares, air gouging arc, torches, and plasma systems. Prevent warping and misalignment through proper welding techniques. Operate overhead cranes safely and efficiently. Maintain required production and quality documentation. Inspect and report equipment issues, defects, or abnormal conditions. Maintain a clean, organized work area. Follow all safety and quality standards. Support team needs and contributes to a high-performing culture.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year’s fabrication experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and interpret weld symbols
  • Experience using an arc gouger
  • Previous crane certification
  • Experience in material handling
  • Welding background with understanding of standard practices
  • Confidence operating overhead cranes
  • Cold-Form / Light Gauge Fabrication Experience welding and fabricating cold-formed (light gauge) components, including materials as light as 16 gauge and thinner
  • Ability to control heat input and distortion to prevent burn-through and warping
  • Experience with MIG (GMAW) welding for thin material applications
  • Ability to read prints specific to clips, secondary members, and light structural components
  • Strong fit-up and weld sequencing to maintain tight tolerances
  • Experience with fixturing and clamping for repeatable, high-volume production
  • High attention to detail in finish quality and alignment
