About The Position

Ho-Chunk Inc. Management Services (HCIMS) is seeking a part-time on call Role Player. The Role Player will provide support to training events while understanding scenarios and being capable of reacting to a wide variety of responses from candidates or students. Additionally, the role player will adjust appropriately depending on the desired outcome of the learning event or training scenario. The position is based at Fort Pickett in Blackstone, VA.

Requirements

  • Able to speak, read and write English.
  • Must have an active and valid US Driver’s License.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain/maintain a Public Trust security clearance.
  • Must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen as a condition of employment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to evaluate and respond realistically to actions of other role players, including U.S. government personnel.
  • Ability to provide accurate cultural knowledge of the region being duplicated in the mission.
  • Improvise convincing reactions to changing and unscripted U.S. government character and trainee movements within the training environment.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year of experience as a Role Player preferred.
  • Experience in improvisational or semi-scripted acting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Staying within assigned training lane
  • Remaining “in role” during training mission
  • Following required security rules for the assigned location
  • Accurately portraying culture during scenarios
  • Participate in practical exercises and Field Training Exercises in rural and urban environments to reinforce and develop student knowledge, skill, and operational judgment.
  • Perform in urban/mounted operations training and may be shot at using blank-firing weapons.
  • Role players may be required to “die in place” or to be captured after a simulated firefight.
  • Role players must understand how to engage students at the appropriate level of intensity and then adjust responses based on the performance of the student.
  • Role players must understand the intent, mechanics, and flow of each exercise.
  • Able to speak, read and write English.
  • May be required to simulate combat in a training environment that may require the use of blank ammunition, simunitions, paint ball, and pyrotechnics.
  • Integrate into training scenarios using weapons, equipment, and various vehicles in a multitude of situations such as hostile forces, ambushes, sniper, friendly forces, police, host nation civilian, terrorist, etc.
  • Role players will be subjected to searches on a regular basis.
  • Students are required to clear the role player of weapons and/ or explosive devices and to conduct a thorough pat down search that includes vigorous search of all areas of the body.
  • At times, role players may be required to perform numerous roles or other roles in support of the exercise depending on exercise requirements (i.e. a role player may be required to play the role of a civilian on the battlefield (COB) or a Guerrilla role player).
  • Portrays an assigned role.
  • Stays in character, applies independent judgment within the scripted scenario or ad lib if directed. Utilizes creativity to make the situation real in a training environment.
  • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
  • Conforms to all safety rules and use all appropriate safety equipment.
  • Must have good understanding and/or be familiar with foreign culture
  • Must be able to appear and portray as foreign nationals, including the Middle East, Africa, etc.
  • Dress in costume appropriate to the role.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Communicates with co-workers, supervisors, government personnel, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Must have an active and valid US Driver’s License.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
