About The Position

Superior Ambulance Service started in 1959 with one ambulance and today is the largest independent, locally owned, and operated emergency medical services provider in the Midwest. Superior employs more than 3,000 licensed EMT, Paramedics and Nurses, operating a fleet of more than 800 ambulances throughout Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin with over 55 locations. Superior also provides Critical Care, helicopter, and fixed wing emergency medical transportation. EMTs and Paramedics provide safe transportation and quality medical care to sick and injured individuals within the scope of state EMS regulations. Superior provides the highest quality care in emergencies and scheduled medical transports. Job Summary: The dispatcher is responsible for dispatching, overseeing and maintaining the status’ of the gantt, monitoring Round Trip transports, giving out appropriate ETA’s, triaging ambulance response, and act as support to customer service representatives. Responsibilities

  • Be extremely knowledgeable in service area
  • Give appropriate ETA’s while accounting for type and level of response, traffic patterns, and weather conditions
  • Prioritize request for ambulance service
  • Monitoring Round Trip
  • Communicate issues to marketing, management, and customers as necessary
  • Assist EMT’s and Paramedics with directions as necessary
  • Maintain appropriate status of crews at all times
  • Delegate additional responsibilities to assistant as necessary
  • Assist in receiving and entering in request for transportation (phone and electronic portal)
  • Communicate patient diversions and keep all appropriate associated records
  • Maintain status records and give appropriate ETA’s for Critical Care Transport as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned
