Rock Drill Operator
About The Position
Moody Excavating, LLC is currently seeking applications to fill an open position for Rock Drill Operator. You’ll support civil drilling operations while building your skills as a rock drill operator. This role is ideal for someone with some drilling or heavy equipment experience who’s ready to grow into a senior driller position. We are looking for long-term candidates who value the opportunity for future advancement that our company offers. All positions with Moody Excavating, LLC require the ability to work overtime as needed and properly follow company polices and OSHA safety standards for a safe working environment.
Requirements
- 1 to 3+ years of drilling experience preferred (or related heavy equipment experience
- Willingness to learn, take direction, and work toward production targets
- Clean driving record + reliable transportation to/from job sites
- MSHA 5000-23 Experienced Miner preferred; strong safety mindset required
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying and remote conditions, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Nice To Haves
- Exposure to Furukawa HC L90-E5 drill machine is preferred
- The ideal candidate will have Top Hammer drilling experience
Responsibilities
- Operate rock drills safely and efficiently under the direction of a lead driller
- Assist with setup, tool changes, greasing, and daily equipment checks
- Read/monitor ground conditions and communicate changes to the crew
- Perform daily inspections and basic maintenance/upkeep
- Follow Safety Policies and Procedures
- Understand different drill patterns and terminology then execute drill pattern and layout as established by the Blasting Superintendent
- Maximize the usage of all drill supplies
- Ability to work unsupervised while maintaining efficiency and safe work practices
