About The Position

Corning is a world leader in glass, ceramic, and materials science, known for pushing the boundaries of what's possible. This role is within the Environmental Technologies segment, which manufactures ceramic substrates and filter products for emissions control. The primary focus of this position is to provide robotic and automation support for production equipment in a fast-paced, high-tech manufacturing environment. The role will primarily support Fanuc robots in automation cells, including associated vision systems and peripheral devices. It will also involve participation in the development of new processes on existing production lines and work on new lines as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or higher required.
  • 0-5 years of experience supporting electrical and control systems (internship experience will be considered).
  • Technically curious and eager to learn and apply new technologies to solve technical challenges.
  • General understanding of electrical design practices, PLCs, control systems, and robotic integration.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, matrixed team environment.
  • Self-starter able to manage priorities and meet timelines with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a customer-focused, results-driven approach.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with FANUC robots, including KAREL programming and IR Vision or other robotic vision systems.
  • Familiarity with ANSI/RIA 15.06 safety standards and applicable national and international electrical, robotic design, and safety codes.
  • Experience with Rockwell Studio 5000, machine control, and motion control systems.
  • Knowledge of control system design, programming, and systems integration, including open- and closed-loop control systems.
  • Familiarity with controls architectures, PLCs, electromechanical drive systems, robotics, part sensing, vision systems, risk assessments, and safety systems.
  • Knowledge of glass and ceramic manufacturing processes preferred.
  • Entrepreneurial, forward-thinking mindset with an interest in emerging automation and control technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring, diagnosing, and resolving equipment issues.
  • Providing support for process/equipment improvement initiatives.
  • Conducting all work safely in accordance with plant policy.
  • Initiating and maintaining relationships with engineering, operations, and maintenance groups to understand problems and provide solutions.
  • Working utilizing plant & division electrical controls standards.
  • Serving as a technical resource for questions regarding deviation and interpretation, and managing changes when resolving problems.
  • Executing assignments in a team-based environment with minimal supervision.
