About The Position

Camp Fire Central Oregon connects youth to the outdoors, to others, and to themselves. Through out-of-school time programs, we build strong relationships and provide meaningful experiences where youth can learn, lead, have fun, and be themselves. Our programs support young people as they navigate growing up and develop the life skills they need to thrive. The Robotics Program Lead will lead the design and daily operation of specific youth programs, ensuring safe, high-quality, and engaging experiences for participants. The Program Lead is responsible for the content, logistics, and onsite delivery of Camp Fire’s Robotics initiatives, and supporting afterschool and No School Day Camp programs. This role may be combined with the Outdoor Learning Lead position in supporting other programs with STEAM-based curriculum, activities, and onsite assistance as needed, for qualified candidates, in order to increase hours as mutually agreeable. Robotics offerings may include LEGO robotics, themed No School Day Camps, and summer camps that explore topics in robotics, engineering, ecology, and/or outdoor education The Coordinator collaborates closely with the Program Manager to implement programs, support staff, and gather feedback for continuous improvement and future program growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field (Ex: education, non-profit management); or 3+ years experience managing, planning and executing youth programs or events; or equivalent combination of education and managing or supervising staff or a team.
  • Direct experience facilitating hands-on learning activities with children or youth.
  • Experience managing program logistics, including scheduling, supply preparation, and basic administrative tasks.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Current certification in First Aid and CPR, or ability to obtain certification prior to start date.
  • Ability to meet physical demands of active youth programming, including standing, walking, lifting, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience developing or facilitating STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) curriculum or themed youth programs.
  • Coursework or degree in STEAM-related fields.
  • Background working with diverse communities.
  • Bilingual or multilingual abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Design and facilitate engaging, introductory robotics programs for K-6 youth.
  • Adapt and implement lesson plans and activities that foster hands-on learning, curiosity, and skill-building, while incorporating youth voice and leadership.
  • Develop and lead program routines that build community, support social-emotional development, and inspire a sense of purpose and belonging.
  • Coordinate day-to-day operations for assigned programs, including scheduling, site setup, supply management, and equipment maintenance.
  • Communicate program expectations and logistics clearly to families and participants before and during programs.
  • Ensure all spaces are welcoming, safe, and well-organized for youth and staff.
  • Assist with registration, planning timelines, and preparation for special program elements (e.g., field trips, guest speakers).
  • Maintain a safe physical and emotional environment through thoughtful behavior practices and responsive, compassionate youth engagement.
  • Support peer conflict resolution and emotional regulation using trauma-informed strategies and industry best practices.
  • Respond promptly to medical or behavioral incidents and maintain clear documentation.
  • Work closely with the Program Manager to evaluate program quality and use data to create program improvement plans.
  • Support the integration of STEAM learning across other Camp Fire programs as needed.
