About The Position

We are seeking a hands-on Robotics & PLC Technician to support the installation, programming, testing, troubleshooting, and launch of automated manufacturing equipment within an automotive Body Weld environment. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with experience in robotics, PLCs, industrial machinery, automation, or industrial maintenance. Candidates who are recent graduates of an Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Robotics, Automation, or related technical program are encouraged to apply. The position involves significant travel to manufacturing facilities and equipment vendors throughout North America.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Hands-on experience or technical education involving robotics, PLCs, automation, mechatronics, industrial maintenance, or manufacturing equipment
  • Basic understanding of PLC-controlled machinery and industrial automation
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment and identify machine-related problems
  • Comfortable working in an active manufacturing and equipment-installation environment
  • Willing and able to work substantial overtime, including weekends, holidays, and plant shutdown periods
  • Willing to travel approximately 66%
  • Valid driver's license and ability to rent a vehicle

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Toyopuc or Omron PLCs is highly desirable.
  • Candidates with experience using Allen-Bradley or Siemens PLCs will also be considered.
  • Degree, diploma, or certificate in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Robotics, Automation, Electrical Technology, or a related technical field
  • Automotive manufacturing experience
  • 3+ years of automotive or industrial automation experience
  • Body Weld or welding automation experience
  • Robot programming experience
  • Equipment installation, commissioning, or launch experience
  • Experience mentoring or providing technical training

Responsibilities

  • Perform onsite robot programming and equipment interlocking
  • Support PLC-controlled automated manufacturing equipment
  • Inspect and confirm new or modified equipment prior to production
  • Prepare and validate new Body Weld equipment at equipment vendors
  • Support equipment installation, setup, trials, commissioning, and production launch
  • Troubleshoot robotics, PLCs, machinery, and automated equipment
  • Develop equipment countermeasures and corrective actions during setup and production trials
  • Confirm new-model equipment meets established manufacturing and performance standards
  • Support weld-machine Seibi activities from installation through start of production
  • Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, maintenance, vendors, and equipment suppliers
  • Travel to manufacturing plants and suppliers throughout the U.S., Canada, and Mexico
