About The Position

Greenlight Robotics is building public transit technology that makes communities more efficient, accessible, and vibrant. We are hiring our first core team of engineers to deliver the initial production version of our system to early transit customers. You will be hands-on building cutting-edge technology that will strengthen the public systems moving billions of people every day. We are looking for a Robotics Perception Engineer to build the perception stack of our product. Reporting directly to our Co-founder & CTO, you will write, review, and deploy software that powers the data collection, object detection, sensor fusion, localization, and systematic model improvement underlying our product. This role offers an extremely high learning velocity, and you will work directly alongside the founders and our Lead Robotics software Engineer to own major components of a complex, field-deployed system.

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience building and training vehicle perception models that use 2D camera and 3D lidar data.
  • Demonstrated ability to create, maintain, and optimize complex robotic software within an integrated HW/SW product
  • Ability to write and evaluate high-quality code using LLMs as an accelerating tool to increase output without building up technical debt.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s or PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, or equivalent focus.
  • 5+ years of previous experience developing AI/ML/RL software for semi-automated or automated vehicle platforms.
  • Hands-on experience working directly on the hardware side of a complex robotics implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Build & Ship Core AI Models: Evaluate, implement, and continuously improve AI/ML/RL models for perception, sensor fusion, and object detection algorithms.
  • Optimize Software Architecture: Develop and maintain major components of our software stack, driving code quality and execution to enable core features for our first transit customers.
  • Drive Product Iteration: Build out data collection pipelines to enable rapid, systematic iteration of our physical-world robotics algorithms.
  • Shape the Technical Roadmap: Independently identify performance bottlenecks across our software components and help prioritize our next technical features and improvements.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and ground-floor equity package.
  • Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, disability, and commuter.
  • Generous "flex days" for working from home alongside unlimited PTO.
