Robotics Lab Technician

Weave Robotics•San Francisco, CA
•Onsite

About The Position

Weave is making personal robots for the home and is already shipping them. The Robotics Lab Technician supports robot development and production through CNC machining, 3-D printing, robot assembly and rework, troubleshooting, and prototype-lab stewardship. The role works closely with engineers to provide real-time feedback on design for manufacturability (DFM) and tolerances, while maintaining quality throughout fabrication and assembly. This position is on-site in San Francisco.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience operating CNC equipment or industrial 3-D printers; 2+ years preferred.
  • Fluency with CAM/CAD tools such as Fusion 360 or SolidWorks.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, GD&T, and basic wiring diagrams.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, fasteners, soldering, and safe shop practices.
  • A maker mindset, including iterating quickly, keeping clear notes, balancing process with agility in a fast-moving environment, and owning quality from initial machining through final assembly.
  • Eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Available to work on-site in San Francisco.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to manufacture high-complexity parts and maintain tight tolerances for mating components.
  • Experience inspecting precision-machined parts using manual tools such as calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and height gauges, as well as automated systems, to ensure conformance with tight tolerances and GD&T requirements.
  • Hands-on experience fabricating composite structures using materials such as carbon fiber, fiberglass, and aluminum, including layup, bonding, mechanical fastening, and post-processing.
  • Experience building and working with or around robots.
  • Basic PCB rework, crimping, or harness fabrication experience.
  • OSHA 10 or other safety certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and maintain 3- and 5-axis mills and lathes; select tooling, workholding, and work setups.
  • Perform regular CNC machine maintenance and inspections.
  • Operate FDM and SLA 3-D printers, post-process parts, and validate fit and finish.
  • Assemble electromechanical subsystems, integrate wiring, and build complete robots.
  • Diagnose mechanical failures, replace components, and document repairs.
  • Work alongside engineers and provide real-time feedback on DFM and tolerances.
  • Keep the prototype lab organized, safe, and stocked with consumables.
