Robotics Instructor - After-School Enrichment Courses
About The Position
Brains & Motion Education (BAM!) provides STEM, arts, and sports enrichment programs at schools and in local communities. Its programs aim to help students explore interests, develop skills, and learn in a safe, engaging environment. The Robotics Instructor uses STEM expertise to lead students in educational activities and teach STEM fundamentals at levels suited to each child’s pace. The instructor fosters curiosity, critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and personal growth in a positive, collaborative setting. The role includes implementing BAM! STEM programs such as Robotics, Ozobots, and Strawbees and working with students in grades K–8. This part-time role is located in Santa Monica, California. Availability is required on Thursdays during the listed program times: 1:35–4:10 p.m. for Strawbees and 1:45–4:10 p.m. for Ozobots. The stated wage is $32 per hour, and the start date is January 4, 2027.
Requirements
- 1–2 years of experience in STEM subject areas, including Robotics, Ozobots, Strawbees, or related topics.
- Strong passion for sharing STEM expertise with youth.
- Genuine enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring.
- Excellent class management skills and ability to work effectively with students in grades K–8.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license or State ID.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Willingness to undergo additional training as required.
- Ability to lift and carry approximately 20–50 lbs. occasionally, with or without accommodations.
Nice To Haves
- Prior coaching or teaching experience is highly encouraged.
Responsibilities
- Lead and inspire students through a variety of STEM activities.
- Teach fundamentals of STEM topics from basic to advanced levels, supporting each child’s progress at their own pace.
- Foster a positive and collaborative environment that develops problem-solving and teamwork skills.
- Implement BAM! STEM programs, including Robotics, Ozobots, and Strawbees.
- Work effectively with students in grades K–8.
