About The Position

Productivity, Inc., a leading CNC machine tool and automation distributor headquartered in Plymouth, Minnesota, is seeking a technically skilled Automation Sales professional to help manufacturers improve productivity through automation. In this role, you will work closely with our Machine Tool sales team, engineering group, and service organization to deliver automation solutions that increase throughput, improve consistency, and support lights-out manufacturing. Productivity offers a broad portfolio of industrial robotics and collaborative robots (cobots), including six- and seven-axis robots, SCARA robots, delta robots, and collaborative systems designed for both high-speed precision applications and safe human-machine collaboration. Our automation solutions are integrated into both high-volume production environments and flexible, small-batch operations. This is an opportunity to work with cutting-edge automation technologies while helping manufacturers solve real-world production challenges.

Requirements

  • Background and experience in automation engineering, robotics, or industrial automation systems
  • Experience in technical sales, sales support, or other customer-facing engineering roles
  • Knowledge of robotics, PLCs, HMIs, motion control, or automated manufacturing systems
  • Ability to translate technical solutions into practical customer benefits
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Willingness to travel 30-40%, 1-1.5 weeks per month on average
  • Valid driver’s license - acceptable driving record

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Machine Tool sales representatives to identify automation opportunities within new and existing customer accounts
  • Develop and grow sales of robotic automation equipment and integrated systems
  • Engage customers to understand manufacturing challenges and recommend practical automation solutions
  • Collaborate with Automation Engineering, Service, and Management teams to design and deliver effective systems
  • Support pre-sale activities, including customer visits, opportunity evaluation, and solution development
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities through networking, referrals, and proactive outreach
  • Prepare technical proposals, follow up on quotations, and close sales opportunities
  • Work with the Automation team throughout the project lifecycle to ensure successful implementation
  • Maintain accurate opportunity tracking, sales forecasts, and project updates within CRM systems
