Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, or related field.
  • Master’s degree + 2 years, Bachelor’s degree + 4 years or 6+ years of Paint manufacturing experience.
  • Hands‑on experience with ABB paint robots.
  • Mechanical, Electrical, Configurations and Programming.
  • Experience with paint flow control, bells/rotary atomizers, solvents, and mixing ratios.
  • Knowledge of RAPID and Robview advanced programming required.
  • Experience with automated paint processes (automotive or industrial).
  • Familiarity with PLC/HMI environments (Allen Bradley preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of various network tools and troubleshooting
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; CAD (AutoCad, Solidworks) required.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, able to interface at all organizational levels.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and comfort working on the production floor and over the phone.
  • Demonstrated improvements in safety, ergonomics, cost, quality, and process stability
  • Knowledge of conveyor tracking required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of classifications for hazardous environments is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Program, optimize, and maintain ABB robotic paint systems.
  • Maintain and develop the architecture of advanced programming to optimize the performance of the robot and paint system. Ie: material change sequences, fluid dynamic and condition monitoring programs.
  • Support the Paint application, Paint Process and Maintenance teams as a subject matter expert.
  • Support integration of paint related automation including bells, guns, pumps, paint kitchen interfaces, and safety interlocks.
  • Lead FAT/SAT activities, I/O verification, cycle time studies, and takt‑based optimization for existing lines and upgrades.
  • Calibrate and maintain ABB Robot Studio simulation environment.
  • Focus on CI for material and energy savings.
  • Lead the Life cycle management, spare parts and other preventative/predictive maintenance programs.
  • Maintenance of all paint programming software, application files and computer backups.
  • Create technotes and training documentation.
  • Coordinate with external suppliers on equipment and product problems or issues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
