About The Position

Responsible for the operation of production equipment to produce quality products meeting customer specifications. This role involves operating robotic welding cells, loading and unloading parts, identifying weld defects, and performing general labor tasks. The operator will also be responsible for material handling, using hand tools, packaging and labeling parts, and maintaining a safe and clean work environment. Compliance with quality system requirements, defect prevention, and waste reduction is essential. Training will be provided on SPC systems.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent training or work experience.
Knowledge of arithmetic.
Knowledge of blueprint reading.
Knowledge of welding defects.
Ability to drive a walk-behind forklift.
Ability to use hand tools like grinders and dyna files.
Ability to identify defects in weld quality with training.

Responsibilities

Perform general operations for loading and unloading parts in the robot weld fixture and operating the robot cell.
Run jobs that do not require the skill of mig welding, but be able to identify defects in weld quality with training.
Drive a walk-behind forklift and move material around the department.
Use hand tools like grinders, dyna files, and other general tools necessary to remove weld berries and perform other general labor operations.
Package and label parts according to work instructions.
Perform labor reporting through the manufacturing information system.
Maintain a safe, clean, orderly, and hazard-free work area, promoting safety at all times.
Comply with Wayne Metals, LLC quality system requirements, defect/error prevention, and waste reduction.
Perform quality checks and be trained to use SPC systems for production operations.
Conform to all Wayne Metals, LLC environmental policies, programs, and procedures.
Conform to all State of Indiana laws and regulations.
Report any environmental concerns to the appropriate personnel.
