About The Position

The Robotic Welding Technician is a hands-on technical role dedicated to maximizing the uptime and performance of the welding department. This position bridges the gap between high-level engineering and daily production by providing expert robotic programming, immediate mechanical repair, and continuous troubleshooting for automated weld cells.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in robotic programming and maintenance within a metal manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and programming faults in a fast-paced production setting.
• Experience with offline programming and simulation tools (e.g., ABB RobotStudio or Fanuc ROBOGUIDE).
• Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and welding symbols.
• Deep understanding of industrial safety protocols, including LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) and robot cell safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Create, modify, and optimize robotic welding programs using both teach pendants and offline programming software. Adjust paths, weld parameters, and cycle times to ensure maximum efficiency and part consistency.
• Act as the first line of defense for robotic cell downtime. Perform mechanical repairs and troubleshooting on robotic arms, controllers, and welding peripherals.
• Develop and execute routine maintenance schedules for all robotic equipment, including torch maintenance, cable harness inspections, and axis lubrication.
• Assist weld departments with cell setups, fixture adjustments, and part changeovers to ensure seamless transitions between production runs.
• Monitor robotic weld quality and adjust parameters—such as wire feed speed, voltage, and travel speed—to meet Standard Iron’s rigorous quality standards.
• Maintain a critical spare parts inventory to minimize emergency downtime.
• Provide technical guidance and training to robotic operators and technicians on best practices for cell operation and minor troubleshooting.
