About The Position

Lays out, fits, tack welds and welds cast, machined, forged, and fabricated steel components according to blueprints in preparation for welding on robotic welding system. Operates robotic welder, including loading and unloading fixtures and parts, and ensures the overall quality of welded parts.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • 6 months to 1 year related experience in a manufacturing environment and/or additional related education preferred.
  • Successful completion of a Weiler weld test.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively one-on-one and in groups.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office including, but not limited to Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Analytical approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several components in variable and standardized situations.
  • Ability to multitask and stay organized.
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently and proceed with objectives with minimal supervision.
  • The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach with and use hands and fingers, talk and hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, climb and balance.
  • The employee occasionally may be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Set up fixtures and tooling on robotic welder according to specific instructions.
  • Bolts, clamps, tack welds parts to secure in position for welding according to blueprints, process sheets and welding procedure specifications.
  • Follows Weiler weld standards; welds all jobs in any welding position according to blueprints, process sheets and welding procedure specifications using gas metal arc welding, both conventional and pulsed.
  • Performs assigned daily maintenance tasks on robot system. This includes refilling consumables, inspecting and cleaning equipment, and other tasks.
  • Reads and understands measuring devices such as tape measure, weld fillet gauge, level, square, protractor and angle finder.
  • Makes alterations to programs, as specified by guidelines from management.
  • Troubleshoots minor problems and puts proper countermeasures in place.
  • Documents quality issues in a tracking system.
  • Provides constructive feedback on programming and efficiency issues encountered.
  • Finishes grinding applications using manual and power tools.
  • Repairs products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping and/or re-welding.
  • Works in a safe manner at all times, following all safety guidelines.
