About The Position

This role is responsible for performing machine assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of robotic systems. The technician will ensure adherence to safety and quality standards, work efficiently to meet timelines, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts. Key responsibilities include navigating SolidWorks models, troubleshooting mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical issues, and collaborating with various departments to resolve problems and ensure the final handoff of machinery.

Requirements

  • Two-year Automated Packaging degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of two years in packaging machinery assembly with experience as a Service Technician, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in checking out Delkor equipment and a demonstrated knowledge of a full range of Delkor Equipment.
  • Able to use standard computer programs for work processing including SyteLine, Web client, Solid works, Synchrono, & Microsoft Office products.
  • Must have successfully completed the in house electrical training course.
  • Familiar with Program Logic Controller (PLC) and RS Logics Series 5000.
  • Experience in using various types of pneumatic and electrical tools, grinders, band saw, sanders, lifting and moving devices, saws and drills including an assortment of hand tools.
  • Ability to read, understand, and analyze machine drawings.
  • Able to train other people.
  • Able to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively (verbally and/or non-verbally) to individuals and groups, internally and externally, to exchange ideas and convey detailed information accurately.
  • Works well with a variety of people and personalities, and with other Delkor departments.

  • Apply physical mobility (reaching, bending, climbing, crawling, kneeling, arm and leg extension) to perform all assembly production activities.
  • Possess extensive arm and hand mobility and strength to lift, hold, reach, carry, push and pull parts. Also able to move parts, tools, equipment and materials in and out of vehicles.
  • Lift 40 pounds regularly; occasionally lift up to 75 pounds with assistance.
  • See and judge distances and space relationships to successfully complete detailed activities to find tolerances, including reading written plans and other documents.

Responsibilities

  • Follow established safety protocols and procedures, providing continuous improvement ideas for safety.
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment and properly use other safety equipment when required.
  • Correct safety discrepancies and report any machine or plant safety concerns to the Production Lead.
  • Ensure work areas remain well organized and free of clutter, maintaining 5S and workplace organization standards.
  • Meet established quality standards and follow quality procedures, providing continuous improvement ideas for quality.
  • Correct quality discrepancies and report any quality concerns to the Production Lead.
  • Ensure all Quality Checklists are properly completed.
  • Work efficiently and provide continuous improvement ideas for cost reduction and waste elimination.
  • Be responsible for accurate labor reporting.
  • Complete work in a timely manner and advise the Production Lead if dates are not going to be met.
  • Train other employees by following Delkor training system.
  • Perform machine assembly when needed.
  • Confirm all information and testing materials, including product, are ready for the checkout team when checkout is scheduled to start.
  • Navigate SolidWorks models and drawings to determine problem(s) and clarify the build process.
  • Complete a Production Concerns request when discrepancies are discovered.
  • Complete an Engineering Change Request (ECR) for machine continuous improvement ideas.
  • Follow build book, change orders, ECNs and other documented requirements when checking out machines.
  • Have general knowledge of third-party equipment and be able to integrate with Delkor equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical issues on machines in production.
  • Ensure all ECNs have been installed on the machines and the ECN log has been properly updated.
  • Work with the Production Manager and Lead for final hand off of machinery from assembly to checkout.
  • Work with Engineering, Production Leads and Managers and others to solve problems.
  • Assist with crating and shipment of machines.
  • Perform all checkout and equipment testing functions on projects and several machines, including formers, closers and loaders.
  • Properly return stock parts on machine build/machine checkout.
  • Operate the forklift on the assembly floor (if certified).
  • Understand parts shortages and priorities and communicate shortages as appropriate.
  • Assist with the development of checkout procedures and standard time requirements.
  • Perform other tasks or duties as assigned.
