Robot Software Engineer Intern — Spring & Summer 2027

Simbe Robotics•San Francisco Bay Area, CA
•Onsite

About The Position

Simbe is hiring a Robot Software Engineer Intern for Spring and Summer 2027 to contribute to software for Tally, its autonomous mobile robot operating in live retail environments. The intern will join the Robot Software Engineering team and own a defined, appropriately scoped project tied to active team priorities. The project will be selected closer to the start date and may involve autonomy and navigation, perception, hardware integration and drivers, ROS tooling, or other areas of the software stack. The intern will work full time from Simbe’s Burlingame, California headquarters as part of a structured cohort. They will design, implement, test, debug, and document software, primarily in C++ and Python, using Linux and ROS/ROS2. The role includes collaboration with engineers across technical teams, mentorship from an engineer separate from the hiring manager, structured midpoint feedback, regular learning and collaboration opportunities, and a final project presentation. The internship is a W-2, non-exempt position lasting up to 12 weeks. Simbe builds an AI-powered operating system for physical retail. Its autonomous robots and multimodal computer vision platform provide retailers with actionable intelligence to support shelf availability, price and promotion execution, inventory accuracy, and store team productivity.
