About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Robot Programmer to support the programming, integration, commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization of industrial robotic systems within highly automated manufacturing environments. The position will primarily support automotive Body Weld / Body-in-White (BIW) automation projects. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Material Handling, Picks and Drops, and Spot Welding, along with strong experience programming Fanuc and/or Comau robotic systems.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of professional industrial robot programming experience preferred.
  • Hands-on experience in automotive or similarly complex automated manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with Material Handling / Picks and Drops.
  • Experience with Spot Welding.
  • Experience programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting industrial robotic systems.
  • Experience working within customer-specific programming and manufacturing standards.
  • Ability to troubleshoot robotic equipment and applications during integration, launch, and production.
  • Willingness and ability to travel based on project requirements.
  • Experience with one or more of the following robotic platforms is preferred: Fanuc, Comau, KUKA, ABB, NACHI, Kawasaki, Yaskawa / Motoman, Panasonic.
  • Strong hands-on experience in the following applications is preferred: Material Handling / Picks and Drops, Spot Welding.
  • Candidates should have experience working within customer-specific robotic programming, manufacturing, and safety standards in automotive or other highly automated manufacturing environments.
  • Candidates should be prepared to discuss: Types of customer programming standards previously supported, Approximate length of experience working within those standards, Body Weld / Body-in-White project experience, Manufacturing and integration-site experience, Robot platforms used on previous projects.
  • Candidates must be willing and able to travel based on project requirements and support manufacturing or integration sites as needed.
  • Candidates should be prepared to provide: Current city, state/province, and country of residence, Countries where they have previously completed project work, Any limitations affecting their ability to perform project work within the United States, Canada, or Mexico.

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates with both Fanuc and Comau experience are particularly desirable.
  • Additional experience in any of the following areas is considered an advantage: Dispense, Seek and Find, Tool Changers, Stud Welding, Arc / MIG Welding, Bin Picking, Vision Systems, Weld Engineering, Laser Brazing, Laser Welding, Riveting, Fanuc IRVision 2D, Fanuc IRVision 3DL, Fanuc IRVision 3DV, Fanuc DCS, Fanuc Karel, Comau RoboSafe, KUKA.Safe, ABB SafeMove.
  • Experience supporting major automotive OEM manufacturing environments is highly desirable.
  • Relevant training or certifications may include: Robot safety systems, Machine/process safety, Fall Protection, Electrical Safe Work Practices, Fanuc DCS or equivalent robotic safety certification, Customer-specific robot programming or manufacturing certifications.
  • Relevant robotic automation experience may also include: Battery Manufacturing, Automotive Assembly, General Automotive Manufacturing, Food Manufacturing, Other Highly Automated Industrial Manufacturing Environments.

Responsibilities

  • Program, configure, commission, troubleshoot, and optimize industrial robots and associated automation equipment.
  • Support Body Weld / Body-in-White robotic automation and integration projects.
  • Develop, modify, and troubleshoot robotic applications involving: Material Handling Picks and Drops Spot Welding
  • Perform robot startup, debugging, validation, production launch, and ongoing production support.
  • Integrate robotic systems with tooling, welding equipment, vision systems, safety systems, and other manufacturing automation.
  • Apply customer-specific robot programming, safety, manufacturing, and integration standards.
  • Troubleshoot robot programming, process, safety, communication, and equipment integration issues.
  • Support robot cell optimization, cycle-time improvements, and production-readiness activities.
  • Collaborate with controls, electrical, mechanical, welding, manufacturing, and engineering teams throughout integration and commissioning.
  • Provide technical direction for robot programming and integration projects when required.
  • Support manufacturing and integration facilities throughout North America as project needs require.
