About The Position

This role is responsible for the setup of new and replacement robots, as well as establishing Standard Operating Procedures and documentation for preventive management. The position involves leading the installation, commissioning, and teaching of industrial and collaborative robots, developing and optimizing robot programs, and performing system integration testing. It also includes evaluating and analyzing aging robot systems for overhaul or replacement, managing migration projects, and establishing preventive maintenance schedules. Troubleshooting complex robot failures, performing root cause analysis, and optimizing robot paths are key aspects of the role. Additionally, the engineer will develop and standardize robot programming guidelines, create comprehensive documentation, maintain software version control, and conduct technical training.

Requirements

  • 4 Year university degree, or comparable background of work-related experience in Robot industry
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office - Excel, PowerPoint, Minitab etc.
  • Proficient in Autocad and Analysis in Geometric tolerance
  • Proficient in Robot programming (Yaskawa, Robotstar , Etc)
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, listening).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Results oriented with strong problem solving/analytical skills
  • Must be at least 18 years of age due to federal labor law requirements.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the installation, commissioning, and teaching of industrial and collaborative robots for new production lines.
  • Develop and optimize robot programs (path programming, logic integration, and cycle time optimization) to meet production requirements.
  • Perform system integration testing between robots and peripheral equipment, including PLCs, vision systems, and end-effectors.
  • Conduct safety risk assessments and validate robot safety functions (e.g., safety zones, collision detection) prior to production handover.
  • Coordinate with automation and process teams to ensure seamless layout integration and joint tracking performance.
  • Evaluate and analyze aging robot systems to determine the feasibility of overhaul, upgrade, or full replacement.
  • Develop technical specifications and scope of work for replacing legacy robot models with newer technology.
  • Review vendor technical proposals and system layouts for new robot implementations to ensure compatibility with existing infrastructure.
  • Manage the execution of robot migration projects, minimizing production downtime during changeovers.
  • Assess ROI and justification for equipment upgrades based on cycle time improvements, energy efficiency, and maintenance cost reduction.
  • Establish and execute preventive/predictive maintenance schedules for all operational robots (e.g., backup management, grease analysis, mechanical calibration).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex robot failures during mass production, focusing on minimizing Mean Time to Repair (MTTR).
  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) on recurring mechanical, electrical, or software issues in robotic systems.
  • Optimize robot paths and parameters on live lines to improve repeatability, reduce component wear, and prevent collisions.
  • Manage critical spare parts inventory for robot controllers, manipulators, and teaching pendants to ensure high availability.
  • Develop and standardize robot programming guidelines, teaching methods, and safety protocols for the plant.
  • Create comprehensive documentation, including troubleshooting guides, maintenance manuals, and backup history logs.
  • Maintain software and firmware version control across all robotic assets to ensure system security and stability.
  • Conduct technical training and knowledge transfer for production operators and maintenance technicians.
  • Document lessons learned from breakdowns and equipment setups to continuously improve standard robot specifications.
