About The Position

Blommer Chocolate Company has been providing delicious, high quality chocolate and cocoa products to customers since 1939. Built as a family business, we are continuing to grow and are looking for motivated and reliable associates to help in our mission of Bringing Chocolate to Life! We are looking for a Roasting Operator for our 2nd shift, which runs Monday - Friday from 3p-11:30p. This position pays $23/hr plus a $1 shift differential.

Requirements

  • Able to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for prolonged periods of time
  • Able to set up, adjust and operate machinery
  • Able to observe and detect issues with product color and fineness
  • Regularly required to bend, stoop, and reach
  • Occasionally ascend/descend stairs
  • Occasionally move materials weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Constantly operate within a manufacturing product environment - daily exposure to noise, dust and variation in temperature (hot/cold)
  • Operate with a focus on safety and quality, while maintaining a sanitary work environment
  • Comply with Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) Lockout/Tagout requirements for hazardous energy sources
  • Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to ensure that products are consistently produced and controlled according to quality standards
  • Adhere to FDA HACCP guidelines
  • Adhere to Allergen Management best practices for food manufacturers
  • Comply with workplace uniform requirements and safety gear
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies, procedures and code of conduct

Responsibilities

  • Review, collect, monitor, and document required ingredients to maintain correct recipe specifications
  • Monitor proper flow of beans through the production line to ensure optimization of quantity and quality of the roast
  • Adjust machines as needed to minimize inaccuracies, defects, or waste
  • Perform corrective action to resolve issues by contacting maintenance, management or safety as needed
  • Report any defective materials, missing or damaged tools to the Supervisor
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition
  • Ensure critical control point compliance documenting US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) results, magnet cleaning, downtime, waste generation; report any non-conformities
