About The Position

Michael Baker International, a Top 20 transportation firm, is seeking a Project Manager - Highway for its Columbus, OH office. This role is for an experienced roadway professional ready to manage projects or take the next step into project management. The candidate will lead roadway design tasks on various transportation projects, mentor junior staff, and provide engineering design, technical oversight, and project delivery support for transportation and public works projects in Ohio and potentially other states. Proficiency in OpenRoads Designer for delivering roadway design projects is essential, along with a strong understanding of roadway engineering principles. The company offers Project Management training, client relationship building opportunities, and involvement in proposal development, project pursuits, and client engagement as the candidate grows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Ohio required.
  • 10+ years of roadway design experience, with an emphasis on ODOT and/or City of Columbus projects preferred.
  • Demonstrated success delivering transportation infrastructure projects and programs.
  • Proficiency in OpenRoads Designer and MicroStation required.
  • Working knowledge of ODOT standards, procedures, and project delivery requirements.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing project tasks, schedules, and budgets.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to effectively prepare and present technical documentation.

Nice To Haves

  • Emphasis on ODOT and/or City of Columbus projects preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the design and plan production for conventional design-bid-build and/or design-build highway and multimodal transportation projects
  • Reviewing the work of technical staff, including performing QA/QC of plans and specifications.
  • Mentoring, training, and developing junior engineers and designers.
  • Applying a broad understanding of roadway design, including roadway geometrics, drainage, hydrology and hydraulics, traffic-related considerations, and highway planning.
  • Utilizing OpenRoads Designer for roadway modeling, design development, and plan production.
